All therapy services can be provided in the comfort of your home, or at our rooms in Sandown.

Physical Rehabilitation

Physical rehabilitation (rehab) is an occupational therapy area that focuses on people living with any disease, injury, or disorders of the soft tissue, muscles and bones. Physical rehab can often improve function, reduce symptoms, and improve the well-being of the patient. Various conditions such as upper limb or lower limb amputations, oedema (swelling), burns, and cancers can benefit from physical rehab.

Cognitive Rehabilitation and Return to Work

Cognitive rehabilitation is an area of occupational therapy which focuses on thinking skills needed for everyday life. This is most commonly treated in neurological conditions which affect the brain (Strokes, head injuries, concussions, dementia). People can develop these skills through practice, and reduce the impact of these symptoms on their functioning. If the therapy goal is return to work, consultations with the relevant HR and work personnel will be a part of the therapy process.

Palliative Care

Occupational therapists are an integral part of palliative care. People and families living with a life-limiting illness require access to occupational therapy in order to provide ongoing assessment and intervention to address constantly changing needs across the disease trajectory. Our focus with end-of-life care is to enhance quality of life.

Dementia Care Program

An occupational therapist will work with someone with dementia to identify where there are difficulties in independent function and day-to-day activities. We will recommend ways to adapt the environment to support the person with dementia. Training of family members and carers is crucial for optimising the engagement of a person living with Dementia.

Healthy Aging and Geriatrics

Aging is a privilege. In this area we focus on ensuring optimal quality of life for older adults who are aging as expected. This includes physical exercise groups, leisure and cognitive stimulation, as well as support in achieving age-appropriate goals. Environmental adaptations and assistive device recommendations are an integral part of this focus area.

Fatigue and Stress Management

Fatigue and stress are common symptoms from a variety of physical and psychiatric medical conditions. This area of occupational therapy focuses on providing an individual with skills in order to identify their stressors or triggers, and to manage fatigue or stress in daily life. Common conditions associated with these symptoms include COVID, traumatic brain injuries, cancer, Guillain-Barre Syndrome and sleep disorders.

Home Adaptations and Prescription of Assistive Devices and Equipment

We partner with leading equipment specialists and suppliers to allow for the best fit for each client. This may include wheelchairs (manual and motorised), ramps, railings, as well as recommendations for home renovation adaptations to optimize accessibility.
